ABOUT
SARAH    GREENIER

Summering on Orr's Island gave me a special appreciation for Maine coast living. I graduated from Oak Grove School in Vassalboro, Maine and went on to study Graphic Design at Pratt Institute in New York. After college, I returned to Maine and worked as a commercial artist and Art Director for ten years, before becoming a full-time painter. In 1996 my husband Tom & I began exhibiting & selling my paintings at art shows throughout New England, where I won numerous awards. Then, in 2006 we opened the Greenier Studio/Gallery next to our home in Bath, where I currently exhibit my work, paint and teach.

I started painting in watercolor, but switched to oils when I began plein air painting, as I found them to be more forgiving & workable outdoors. My husband also enjoys outdoor painting, so it's been a pleasure painting along the coast together. We have taken annual painting trips to Monhegan, Acadia and Stonington, as well as Provence, France. There we had an opportunity to paint the lavender fields of Bonneaux & the Mediterranean coast in Cassis.

I most enjoy painting quintessential Maine scenes. I find that painting outdoors breathes life into my work. Being out in the Maine sea air, taking in all the sounds & smells of our surroundings - and Mother Nature - is about as close to perfection and as inspirational as it gets.

I am exhibiting at Small Wonder Gallery, 1 Public Landing, Camden and am a board member of the Maine Art Gallery, 15 Warren Street, Wiscasset, in addition to exhibiting at Greenier Gallery.

Greenier Gallery is located at 428 Middle Street in Bath. We are open from 10 am to 4 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. We are open on Wednesdays & weekends by chance or appointment, please call 207-443-3936.

Warmest Regards,
Sarah Greenier
